ACT Policing & Safety House

ACT Policing is involved in a range of community programs as part of its community policing commitment to the residents of ACT. In June 2006, the then Chief Police Officer Audrey Fagan gave the full endorsement and support of the Australian Federal Police in the ACT to the Safety House Program. Together with Neighbourhood Watch, Safety House provides a level of assurance to the community and helps to provide a safer environment for the community, in particular children.

The AFP in Canberra provide assistance to the Safety House Program by conducting criminal history checks on all potential Safety Householders on the Association's behalf. This is an extremely important role and is a key part of ensuring Safety Houses remain a safe haven for those in need of one.

The ACT Safety House Association acknowledges and thanks the AFP in the ACT for its support of the program.
